“The client required a match in town to a historically important country property which was simpler to manage and maintain as a pied a terre. The existing 1970s townhouse was poorly planned and aesthetically unremarkable with no option to add any new space beyond what was already permitted. Period architectural elements, antique or commissioned bespoke from skilled contemporary craftsmen, were incorporated seamlessly throughout the new build to create a patina of age and a richly textured backdrop for a collection of contemporary art and furniture.”
